Centro VIDA or LIFE Center in Sturgis provides a range of services to help build a bridge between cultures. Literacy Council tutors, shown here in a 2013 tutor meeting, tutor and hold small classes at Centro VIDA for Hispanics learning to read English as a second language. Translation services, job training and placement, and other services are available at the center.

Since our tutors volunteer their time without pay to teach adults to read, we do bring them together periodically to give the St. Joseph County Literacy Council a chance to show its appreciation for their efforts. Pictured are the tutors on hand for the council’s 2013 Tutor Appreciation Day.

St. Joseph County particpates in the Centro Vida open house.  One of the main goals of Centro Vida is to promote ESL development.  The St. Joseph County Literacy Council is pleased to be a partner in their program.
